A Day in the Working Life

Emma - Salon Director & Nailsea Salon Manager

I get up at… 6am.

My breakfast is… Peanut butter and banana on toast (if it’s not Sunpat crunchy my day is ruined).

My work wardrobe consists of… Black on black on black - with absolutely no bleach splodges coloured in with a sharpie!

My job entails… Running a fully booked column at Reflections Nailsea. Managing 5 staff members in my base salon. Overseeing 2 other Bristol salons. Managing productivity and profitability across all three sites. Training staff and maintaining standards. Performance analysis. Stock control. Client care. Assisting social media output. Retailing company wide. My job is nothing if not varied!

How I got here… I joined Reflections as a Receptionist and found out 1 week later that I was 22 weeks pregnant!! I returned from maternity leave, fell in love with the industry, became Assistant Manager, then Manager while completing my level 2 and 3 qualifications.

The best piece of advice I was given… “Consultation is key” - Kelly Small, Salon Operations Director and British Hairdressing Finalist.

Best part of my working day… The privilege of having a positive impact on someone’s day. Seeing a client walk out of the salon door with a smile on their face will always give me a kick.

After work I… Go home to my husband and cats. I work out most nights. I’ll have a drink and a dance on the weekend.
